Back in San Francisco, The Best City for Tech Startups

The Painted Ladies of San Francisco against the city skyline, a place considered the best city for tech startups.

It’s finally happening: I’ve moved back to San Francisco! I am so excited to be back in this city that I have such a deep love for. I lived here for almost a decade before shipping out to Michigan, and I know that it’s a great city for tech startups. But why do so many ambitious founders end up here and why do tech startups find success in The City?

The City Has an Enduring Reputation as a Startup Haven

Never forget that Silicon Valley, home of Apple, Google, Meta, and more, is right here in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since 1971, this region has been known for technical innovation, and that reputation has gone from strength to strength over more than five decades.

But it isn’t just the fact that tech giants reside here. It’s the fact that most of these big companies started out life here as plucky entrepreneurs, taking risks and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. How can that not inspire today’s entrepreneurs to join them?

There’s a High Concentration of Top Tech Talent Here

No surprises really, but because there are so many tech companies here, this is where the talent comes. You want to hire an AI or machine learning expert? No problem. Data integration specialist? San Francisco has them by the dozen. Tech startups know that when they come to San Francisco, they really get the pick of the crop, and because the workforce here is so diverse, there’s the opportunity to create tech products and services for a much wider audience.
